Clinton hurler Neftali Feliz went toe-to-toe with the Midwest League's ERA leader on Monday evening. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's minor league action.

Dustin Nippert was victorious for the fifth time in six Triple-A decisions, as he gave up only two runs in six innings. He surrendered five hits, walked four, and struck out four.

Nelson Cruz (.332/.445/.693) was 2-for-4 with a first inning two-run homer off former Rangers prospect Sam Narron. Cruz also gunned down Tony Gwynn Jr. at home for an outfield assist.

First baseman Chris Davis (.288/.351/.481) doubled twice in four at-bats.

Nate Gold (2/3, BB) singled twice and walked while Jason Ellison (1/5, 2B) and Joaquin Arias (1/4, 3B) each had extra-base hits.

Kea Kometani (4.56 ERA/.229 BAA) tossed two perfect innings of relief while Warner Madrigal (4.38 ERA/.224 BAA) fanned one in a scoreless frame.

Michael Schlact threw just 55 percent of his pitches for strikes while walking five batters in seven innings on Monday, but he was more than effective.

The tall right-hander gave up only one run while scattering five hits. He recorded three strikeouts and had a 14:4 groundout-to-flyout ratio.

Corey Ragsdale (.228/.316/.426) doubled for the third consecutive game. He was 1-for-3 with the two-bagger.

Right fielder Dustin Majewski singled and walked.

Andrew Laughter (1.69 ERA/.148 BAA) retired all six batters he faced for his fourth Double-A save. The hurler has allowed just eight hits in 16 innings since his promotion to Frisco.

Kasey Kiker (4.35 ERA/.274 BAA) went at least seven innings for the fifth time in 10 starts this season.

The 20-year-old gave up three runs on nine hits [eight singles] in seven innings. He walked two and struck out five while posting a solid 11:4 groundout-to-flyout ratio.

After struggling with home runs early in the season, Kiker has done an excellent job of keeping the ball down in the zone lately. He has not allowed a gopher ball since May 18, giving him a 28 inning homerless streak.

Right fielder J.T. Restko (.284/.341/.466) singled three times in four trips.

Jose Vallejo (.293/.353/.456) hit his 12th double for his only hit in four at-bats.

Reliever Dan Sattler came off the disabled list to toss a scoreless frame. He struck out one.

Clinton may have been the site of the Midwest League's best pitching matchup of the season on Monday.

Although Clinton's Neftali Feliz outdueled Kane County's Craig Italiano, the Cougars rallied against the L-Kings bullpen for the late-inning victory.

Feliz went five innings, giving up only one run on four hits. He walked two and struck out a season-high nine.

Clinton touched up Italiano for three earned runs in five innings. Coming into the start, the hurler had allowed only five earned runs all season.

DH Ian Gac (2/3, HR, BB) took Italiano deep for a solo homer in the fifth inning.

Renny Osuna (2/5) and Tim Smith (2/4) each singled twice while Mitch Moreland (1/4, 2B) doubled and knocked in two runs.

Starter Ezequiel Rijo gave up two unearned runs in four innings of work. He walked three and punched out four.

Righty Johan Barboza was the start of the game out of the ‘pen, as he chipped in with three scoreless. Barboza gave up only one hit, walked one, and struck out three.

Shortstop and three-hole hitter Edwin Garcia (.231/.333/.231) singled twice and walked twice in four plate appearances.

Keury Arias (1/1, 2B), Tomas Telis (1/3, 2B, BB) and Roan Salas (1/4, 2B) all doubled.

Melvin Bryan (0.00 ERA/.074 BAA in 8.1 IP) yielded just two unearned runs on one hit in five innings on Monday morning. He walked three, struck out three, and threw two wild pitches.

Left fielder Guillermo Pimentel (.391/.531/.609 in 23 at-bats) was the only Ranger with multiple hits. He singled twice in four at-bats.

Michael De La Cruz fanned two in a scoreless sixth inning.
