Rangers win with more solid pitching

Kevin Millwood and Kameron Loe were dominant in their outings this afternoon as the Rangers defeat Seattle 4-1.

The Good

Defiantely Millwood and Loe.

Millwood had a rough start to the game that was kicked off by a Brad Wilkerson error, and walked a couple of guys in the bottom of the first en route to allowing the only run of the game scored by Seattle. But he settled down after that and held the Mariners to only one additional hit and no runs in his other three innings of work.

Kameron Loe walked a batter and allowed a hit in the sixth, but shut down the Mariners aside from that. He and Millwood were the only two pitchers used by the Rangers today.

Brad Wilkerson connected for his first homerun of the spring with a two-run shot to left-centerfield in the sixth.

Jerry Hairston Jr. had a 2 for 4 afternoon with an RBI single in the fifth and another basehit in the seventh.

The Bad

Brad Wilkerson got the start at first base this afternoon and committed an error on a missed catch. For all intents and purposes the Rangers will plan on rolling with the outfielder as the team's backup first baseman.

The Ugly

Yes, it might be St. Patrick's Day. But unless you're Mexico and this is the World Baseball Classic again green hats and different colored spring training tops do not mix.
