Still Even For Brown

Still Even For Brown

It's crunch time as National Signing Day rapidly approaches and Beniquez Brown is well aware. Brown knows his final four: Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Auburn and Tennessee. But, he doesn't know his final destination just yet. Here, Brown breaks down his top schools one by one and gives us a little peek into his thought process.

Beniquez Brown insists he doesn't want to put one school in front of another when discussing his top four just days before he makes an announcement.

"They are all real close. It's almost the time to make a choice and I'm still thinking about it."

One school has come on strong lately and inserted itself right into Brown's recruitment. But, Brown reminds us that the Auburn Tigers have actually been in his mind for a while now.

"Auburn gave me my first offer back in 11th grade. I didn't hear from them as much though but then now I've been hearing a lot from them. I might take a visit to Auburn this weekend. I just have to see if I can work it out. I like what their new offensive coordinator plans to do there and how they could use me. They need a big back. They are an in-state school too so that's always good."

Ole Miss tells Brown they could use him instantly.

"They have been trying to get me there for a visit recently and I haven't been able to make it but they want me to come up there and be a part of the new Ole Miss and what they're trying to do. They tell me I could start as a runningback in the SEC."

Brown did take a visit to Mississippi State recently. He came away from the visit feeling good about the Dawgs.

"I really liked my visit to MSU. I talked to coach Mullen a lot and I feel like we have a real good relationship. My cousin Kivon tells me he would like me to go there with him but he wants me to make the best decision for me so he doesn't really talk about it too much."

Tennessee is a school Brown felt really comfortable with for a while but the coaching carousel affected his thoughts about the Vols.

"I always liked Tennessee a lot and felt comfortable there with coach Lance Thompson. Now he's at Alabama so that was kind of Tennessee's downfall with me but I still would go there if it was the right fit."

Brown will make his pledge on signing day. In the meantime, he says he's still searching for that "right fit" but feels he can't go wrong with the great options in front of him.
