Borbon reached base three times

Julio Borbon played well at the top of Escogido's lineup on Monday, going 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, and a stolen base. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's winterball action in the Texas Rangers' system.

Aragua's double play combination of Luis Hernandez and Yangervis Solarte each went hitless in four official at-bats in Monday's loss to Zuila. Hernandez drew a walk while Solarte whiffed three times and committed a throwing error.

Dominican Winter League

Julio Borbon raised his postseason batting average to .250 in Escogido's 8-2 win over Cibao on Monday, going 2-for-3 with a double––his third––a walk, and his second stolen base.

First baseman Brad Nelson, who batted sixth for Cibao, was hitless in three at-bats. He is now batting .182 in the playoffs.

Mexican Pacific League

Culiacan extended its semifinal series with Guasave to a sixth game with a victory on Monday. Guasave catcher Jose Felix played well in the defeat, getting two singles in three at-bats while earning the start behind the plate.

Puerto Rican Winter League

The Ponce club was eliminated from the postseason on Thursday, meaning Mayaguez will face Caguas in the Puerto Rican Winter League final best-of-nine series. Only two Rangers appeared in Puerto Rico this winter––both for Ponce.

Catcher Kevin Torres, 21, played in seven games for the Leones, going 2-for-7 with a walk and two strikeouts. Sidearming left-hander Alexander Claudio made three appearances––including one start––for Ponce and worked 5.2 scoreless innings, yielding five hits, walking four, and striking out four.
