2008:
Played in 37 games with the rookie-level AZL Rangers, batting .280 with 10 doubles, four home runs, and 21 RBIs.
Notes:
Signed by Rangers as an undrafted free agent during the summer of 2008.
Was previously selected in the 14th round of the 2005 MLB Draft by the Philadelphia Phillies out of Houston's Stratford High School. Passed on the offer and opted to attend Tulane University.
During three-year career at Tulane, Barto batted .258 with 15 doubles, six triples, and 11 home runs.
Starred in prestigious Cape Cod League after freshman and sophomore seasons at Tulane. Participated in the CCBL All-Star Game in 2007, when he batted .277 and finished second in the league with 15 steals.
Opted to forego his senior year of college when he signed with the Rangers.
