Oklahoma City starter Michael Kirkman ended his struggles on Tuesday afternoon by striking out nine over seven scoreless innings. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's minor league action.

Michael Kirkman (3.17 ERA/.223 BAA) got back on the right track in a big way on Tuesday afternoon.

The 23-year-old southpaw hurled seven scoreless innings against a solid Omaha lineup, scattering three hits, walking just one, and striking out nine. He threw 107 pitches.

After his promotion to Double-A last season, Kirkman fanned 64 batters in 96.2 innings. He has 64 in 65.1 frames at the Triple-A level so far this season.

First baseman Ryan Garko (.304/.407/.507) was 2-for-4 with a homer, a walk, and three runs batted in. Garko has multiple hits in four of his last six contests, and he’s homered twice in three days.

Hernan Iribarren (1/3, 2B, BB) doubled, walked, and also drove home three runs.

Brandon Boggs (2/4, BB) and Chris Davis (2/4, BB) both singled twice and walked.

Southpaw Mike Ballard closed out the game with two shutout frames out of the bullpen.

Wilfredo Boscan suffered his eighth last of the season, but he actually pitched relatively well. The young righty yielded four runs [only two earned] on five hits in six innings. He walked two and struck out four.

Leadoff hitter David Paisano (.294/.340/.377) is heading up again. He singled four times in five plate appearances. Paisano is 15-for-30 in seven games this month.

Chris Gradoville (1/4, 2B) doubled while Tom Mendonca (1/2, BB, HBP) singled, walked, and was hit by a pitch.

Mendonca has now walked seven times in his last nine games.

Right-hander Kennil Gomez finished out the game with two scoreless innings, walking one and striking out zero. He didn’t allow any hits.

Matt Thompson retired the first 12 batters he faced, and he tossed scoreless ball through five innings. But he started to unravel in the sixth and seventh and ended up surrendering six runs [five earned] over 6.1 innings. He allowed six hits, walked zero, and fanned four.

Reliever Trevor Hurley was hit hard for the first time this season. He coughed up five runs [three earned] on four hits in one-third of an inning, raising his ERA to 1.84.

Right fielder Jared Prince (.286/.370/.451) went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, and a base on balls. The 24-year-old is putting together a fine season with the Crawdads.
