Having already secured their spot in Sunday's Gold Medal Game, the United States played and defeated Cuba, 5-3, on Thursday evening in Italy.

First baseman Justin Smoak was the only Rangers prospect to appear in the game. He was 0-for-4 with one walk.

Team Canada took home an 11-5 victory over a strong Netherlands team. Emerson Frostad didn't play. Former Rangers prospect Tim Smith was 1-for-4 with a run batted in.

The Americans will face the Netherlands on Friday afternoon. It'll be their final test before Sunday's Gold Medal Game.
