Brigham pitched two hitless innings

The Hickory Crawdads lost on Saturday, but Wilmer Font pitched brilliantly while Jake Brigham had a strong return from the disabled list. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's minor league action.

Bryan Corey gave the RedHawks a fine start on Saturday, pitching six innings of one-run ball. He allowed six hits while walking one and striking out five.

Reliever A.J. Murray had easily his worst outing of the season. The lefty coughed up five runs (four earned) on four hits and a walk in just one-third of an inning.

Right-hander Doug Mathis worked a perfect seventh inning.

Mike Hinckley fanned four batters in 1.1 shutout frames.

Oklahoma City had eight hits, but none of them went for extra bases. Right fielder Greg Golson (2/4) was the only player with two knocks.

Julio Borbon (1/3, BB) and Justin Smoak (1/3, BB) both singled once and walked once.

Mike Ballard (4.15 ERA/.275 BAA) appears to be back on track for the RoughRiders. He pitched 6.1 innings on Saturday, allowing two runs on five hits, walking two and striking out five.

Over his last three starts, Ballard has yielded four earned runs in 22.1 frames.

Leadoff hitter Dustin Majewski (2/4, 2 2B, BB) doubled twice and walked while Mitch Moreland (2/5, 2B), Chad Tracy (2/5, 2B) and Marcus Lemon (1/2, 2B, 2 BB) all doubled once.

DH John Whittleman was 1-for-5 with his first triple of the year.

Third baseman Adam Fox singled twice in four at-bats, raising his average to .263.

In his return to Double-A, lefty Beau Jones struck out three batters in 1.2 perfect innings.

Thomas Diamond fanned the side in the ninth inning to preserve the victory.

Ryan Tatusko didn't receive a whole lot of help from his defense on Sunday, as he allowed six runs—just three earned—in five innings of work. He walked two and struck out two.

Left-hander Glenn Swanson helped keep the Blaze in the game with three scoreless innings out of the bullpen, fanning four.

Left fielder Elio Sarmiento was 3-for-4 with a double and a walk.

Joey Butler (2/4, BB), Davis Stoneburner (2/5) and Jose Felix (2/4) all singled twice. Butler has 15 hits over his last six games.

Jake Brigham had a successful return from the disabled list on Saturday, pitching two hitless innings and striking out one. He allowed one unearned run.

Erik Morrison (1/4, 2B, BB), Doug Hogan (2/4, 2B), Eric Fry (1/4, 2B) and Andres James (2/4, 2B) all doubled.

Matt West had two hits in four trips.

Edwin Garcia (2/5), Michael Ortiz (2/5) and Edward Alfonzo (2/3, BB) all singled twice. Ortiz has posted multi-hit efforts in six of his last ten games.

The DSL Rangers2 offense gave up just a pair of hits to the DSL Pirates on Saturday.

Starter Denny Peralta gave up two runs (one earned) on two hits over six innings, walking zero and punching out eight.

Third baseman Robert Morillo (.177/.255/.274) was 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, and two runs batted in.

Leadoff man Teodoro Martinez had two singles in four at-bats.

Jose Mavare (2 IP) and Miguel De Los Santos (1 IP) closed it off with hitless relief.
