Ross leads the league in strikeouts

Robbie Ross had another big day with the strikeouts on Tuesday, while Dustin Nippert posted a solid rehab start in Oklahoma City. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's minor league action.

Dustin Nippert made his first Triple-A rehab start, and it was a success. The tall righty allowed just one run on two hits in five innings, walking two and striking out six.

Third baseman Esteban German was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs.

Kevin Richardson (1/4, HR) added a solo home run, his fifth of hte season.

Greg Golson (2/4) singled twice while Joaquin Arias (1/4, 2B, BB) doubled and walked.

Long reliever Brian Gordon hurled three scoreless innings, giving up just one hit. He struck out four.

Warner Madrigal fanned one in a perfect ninth inning to finish off the game.

Richard Bleier struggled in the early going but settled down late. The southpaw ended up allowing four runs on seven hits in six innings.

Lefty Glenn Swanson (2.25 ERA/.250 BAA) gave up just one hit in four shutout innings. He fanned five without issuing a walk.

Third baseman Jake Kaase was 3-for-5 with his second High-A double.

Ian Gac (1/5, 2B) and Mauro Gomez (1/5, 2B) also doubled.

Martin Perez fell to 2-5 on the season despite another strong outing. The southpaw scattered eight hits through five innings, allowing two runs. He struck out four without issuing a walk.

Leadoff hitter David Paisano (.310/.370/.420) was 2-for-4 with a double. He has doubled in three consecutive games, and he's got seven in his last eight contest.

Lefty Robbie Ross allowed three runs (two earned) in 5.1 innings. He walked one and struck out nine.

Through three starts, Ross has a league-leading 24 strikeouts in 15.1 innings. Fellow Spokane hurler Ben Henry ranks second, with 15 in just 8.2 frames.

Vin DiFazio (1/5, 2B), Aja Barto (2/5, 2B), Jared Prince (1/3, 2B, 2 BB) and Denny Duron (2/4, 2B) all doubled.

Left fielder Miguel Alfonzo was 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in the ninth inning. He also walked.

Tom Mendonca pinch hit for Cody Podraza in the ninth inning. He struck out in his first-ever professional at-bat.

Starting pitcher Jose Mavare yielded one unearned run in three innings, giving up three hits and walking three.

Lefty Leonel Gil earned his second victory after he allowed two runs—one earned—on three hits in 5.2 innings. The 18-year-old fanned six without walking a batter.
