Frisco catcher Manny Pina had three more hits on Thursday, including his first home run of the year. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's minor league action.

Mike Ballard was excellent in his first start of the season, holding Omaha to two runs over six innings. The southpaw scattered seven hits, walked one, and struck out five.

Third baseman Esteban German singled twice and committed his sixth error of the season.

Royce Huffman (1/4, 2B) belted his sixth double of the yaer and his fourth in three games.

DH Max Ramirez singled once, walked once, and struck out twice. He now has 20 whiffs in 48 at-bats this season.

Greg Golson raised his batting average to .356 with two singles in three at-bats.

Second baseman German Duran gave the RedHawks their first lead of the game with his three-run homer in the fifth inning. The long ball was Duran’s second extra-base hit in as many days.

Pedro Strop (5.06 ERA/.167 BAA in 5.1 innings) closed out the game by retiring all four batters he faced. Strop struck out one.

Tommy Hunter was knocked around for six runs -- five earned -- in six innings on Thursday. The big right-hander gave up 10 hits [nine singles and one home run] while walking one and striking out four.

Frisco’s pitching wasn’t anything to write home about in the game, but the offense did have nine runs on 15 hits.

Second baseman Jose Vallejo was 3-for-5 with a double, a triple, and two runs batted in.

John Whittleman (3/4, 2B) singled twice and doubled once.

Rigth fielder Steve Murphy (2/4, 2B, HR) doubled and homered.

DH Justin Smoak (2/5, HR) and catcher Manny Pina (3/4, HR) both hit round-trippers.

Pina is off to an outstanding start at the plate. He’s hit safely in each of his eight games this year, going 13-for-30 [.433] with one double and one home run.

Left-hander Beau Jones had another rough outing, yielding four runs in 1.1 innings.

The Blaze got down early after Kennil Gomez surrendered five runs -- four earned -- in five innings. Gomez allowed just three hits, but he walked five batters. He also struck out eight.

Left fielder Tim Smith (.422/.458/.622 in 45 at-bats) had another huge game, going 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, and four RBIs.

DH Mauro Gomez (.324/.368/.676 in 34 at-bats) was 3-for-3 with a double and a walk. He had six hits in his last two contests.

Ian Gac (1/4, 2B) also doubled.

Second baseman Matt Lawson hit a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning, his third of the season. The Missouri State product had just six home runs in 100 games with Single-A Clinton last season.

Reliever Adalberto Flores earned the victory after tossing two shutout innings, striking out two.

Left-hander Zach Phillips was just as effective. He didn’t surrender a run or a hit in two frames, walking one and fanning two. Lefties are hitting .077 against Phillips thus far.

Carlos Pimentel suffered his first loss of the season despite delivering a quality start. The young righty yielded two runs in six innings. He allowed four hits, walked one, and struck out six.

The Crawdads offense managed just three hits against Lexington starter and Austin native Brad Dydalewicz.

Infielders Clark Murphy (1/2, 2B, BB) and Jason Ogata (1/3, 2B, BB) both doubled and walked.

Third baseman Matt West singled once in three at-bats.
