Luis Mendoza and the RedHawks played an excellent game on Sunday, getting a 6-0 victory over the Memphis Redbirds. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's minor league action.

Luis Mendoza put together another strong start for the RedHawks, keeping Memphis off the scoreboard for 5.1 innings. The sinkerballer allowed just two hits while walking four and striking out seven.

In 35.0 innings with OKC last season, Mendoza posted a 5.14 ERA and struck out just 19 in 35 innings. He has made two starts this season, and in 10.1 innings, Mendoza has surrendered no runs on just four hits, walking six and fanning 13.

First baseman Scott Thorman continued his recovery from a slow start by going 2-for-3 with two doubles and a walk.

Brandon Boggs (1/3, 2B, BB), Joaquin Arias (1/5, 2B), Emerson Frostad (1/1, 2B, 2 BB) and Greg Golson (1/3, 2B) also doubled.

Third baseman Esteban German, who was 1-for-2 with a base on balls, committed his fifth error of the season. German has never been known for his glove.

Julio Borbon raised his average to .298 with two singles in five trips.

Brian Gordon fanned two and allowed only one hit in 2.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

Closer Pedro Strop struck out one in an 11-pitch ninth inning.

Taking the place of recently DL’ed starter Michael Schlact, righty Guillermo Moscoso made his first start since joining the Rangers’ organization.

It didn’t go well.

The former Tigers prospect coughed up eight runs on 11 hits in 2.2 innings, walking one and striking out zero.

Things weren’t much better for the RoughRiders offensively, as they had just four hits on the day.

Left fielder Chad Tracy (2/4, 2B) had two of the knocks, including a double.

Justin Smoak (1/3, BB) and Marcus Lemon (1/4) both singled. Lemon’s average fell all the way to .545, but he has hit safely in all nine games this season.

The bullpen was the one bright spot of the night, with Kea Kometani (2.1 IP), A.J. Murray (2 IP) and Clayton Hamilton (2 IP) all throwing scoreless relief.

Sunday’s Bakersfield game was a lot like Frisco’s contest.

Starting pitcher Tim Murphy struggled for the third consecutive start, yielding four runs in 4.1 innings. He allowed seven hits and walked four.

In 12.2 innings this season, the UCLA product has surrendered 17 hits and walked 12 batters while fanning just eight.

THe offense also struggled, getting just three hits on the day.

Leadoff man Engel Beltre went 1-for-4 with a double, giving him five hits in his last three games. He also recorded an outfield assist by gunning down a runner at home plate.

Tim Smith (1/3) and Renny Osuna (1/3) had the team’s other two hits.

Zach Phillips was excellent out of the bullpen, tossing 2.2 innings of scoreless ball.

?Adalberto Flores fanned five in two innings. He gave up a run on one hit and one walk.

Lake Elsinore’s baserunners combined to swipe seven bases in seven attempts against pitchers Murphy and Flores and catcher Jose Felix.
