Winterball Roundup - 10/14

Five Rangers prospects appeared in the Venezuelan Winter League's opening night on Tuesday. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's winterball action.

Arizona Fall League: Surprise 8 – Peoria Saguaros 6

Centerfielder Julio Borbon (1/5) and third baseman John Whittleman (1/4) had one single apiece on Tuesday. Borbon stole his second base of the AFL season.

John Bannister picked up his first save, tossing 1.1 scoreless innings. He allowed no hits, walked one, and struck out two.

Mexican Pacific League


No Rangers appeared on Tuesday.

Venezuelan Winter League


Shortstop Elvis Andrus, who batted ninth for Magallanes, went 2-for-4 with a triple on opening night.

La Guaira, the team Andrus faced on Tuesday, featured four Rangers in the game.

Renny Osuna, who hit leadoff and played shortstop, was 0-for-5 with a walk. Right fielder Ben Harrison batted third, going 0-for-2 with four walks. Miguel Alfonzo started at DH and struck out in his only at-bat. Reliever Kendy Batista appeared in his first game since having bone spurs removed from his right elbow. The righty tossed two scoreless innings, yielding one hit and striking out one batter.
