The Frisco RoughRiders ended their losing streak with an extra-inning victory in San Antonio on Friday night. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's minor league action.

AAA: Oklahoma 4 – Las Vegas 5
L – McCarthy (0-1)

Starting pitcher Brandon McCarthy surrendered five runs in 5 1/3 innings. The lanky right-hander threw 89 pitches and allowed six hits while walking two and striking out three.

Leadoff man Joaquin Arias set the table with three hits, including a two-run homer. It was his fourth long ball of the season.

Outfielder John Mayberry (1/3, HR, BB) hit his 13th home run with the RedHawks. He has 17 total this season.

Right fielder Nelson Cruz was 2-for-3 with a double, but he left the game after being caught stealing in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Kiko Calero (1.2 IP), Bill White (1 IP) and Joselo Diaz (1 IP) all had scoreless relief efforts.

Zack Parker made a spot-start on Friday night and struggled with his command, giving up three runs – two earned – in 4.1 innings. He allowed four hits, walked four, and struck out four.

Reliever John Bannister returned to the Double-A level and yielded one run in 2 2/3 innings of relief. He didn’t have a walk or a strikeout.

Second baseman Jose Vallejo (3/6) singled three times and stole two bases. Julio Borbon singled twice and walked in six trips.

Andrew Laughter tossed three shutout innings, giving up one hit and one walk. He struck out two batters.

Right-hander Brennan Garr, who earned the victory, pitched three scoreless frames, allowing no hits and striking out four. He has now fanned 50 batters in 40.1 innings with Frisco this season.

First baseman Dustin Majewski went 2-for-5 with a double and four RBIs. He had a bases-clearing double that scored three runs in the top of the 13th inning.

Glenn Swanson showed a bit of improvement in his second start back from Tommy John surgery, as he allowed two runs in five innings. He scattered seven hits while walking and striking out three apiece.

Left fielder Chad Tracy (2/4, HR) and leadoff hitter Marcus Lemon (1/4, HR) both hit solo home runs. Tracy’s round-tripper was his fourth in five games.

John Whittleman was 2-for-4 with his 33rd double.

DH Mauro Gomez went 0-for-3 in his first game since July 13. He had been dealing with personal issues in the Dominican Republic.

Kasey Kiker returned from the disabled list and pitched out of the bullpen. He surrendered two runs on four hits in two innings of work. Kiker fanned two batters without issuing a base on balls.

The Kernels tagged starter Jorge Quintero for four runs in five innings on Friday. He gave up eight hits and struck out four while walking one.

Engel Beltre (3/5, 2B), Jonathan Greene (2/3, 2B) and Davis Stoneburner (1/3, 2B, BB) all doubled. It was Greene’s third multi-hit effort in his last four games.

Fabio Castillo tossed two scoreless innings in relief of Quintero. The 19-year-old has combined for six shutout frames in his last three relief appearances.

Ryan Turner struck out one in a scoreless eighth inning.

Carlos Pimentel pitched well outside of a rough third inning, in which he allowed all three of his runs. In all, he surrendered three runs – two earned – on five hits in 3 2/3 innings. He walked three and struck out one.

Justin Pickett (1/4, HR) and Eric Fry (3/5, HR) tried to rally the Indians from a late-game 6-0 deficit. Pickett smacked a three-run homer in the eighth inning before Fry hit a solo shot in the ninth.

Left fielder Joey Butler (3/5) singled three times and DH Mike Bianucci (1/3, 2 BB) singled and walked twice.

Second baseman Jason Ogata had two hits in five plate appearances.

South Korea native Yoon-Hee Nam didn’t permit a run in 2 1/3 innings. He gave up two hits, walked one, and struck out two.

Third baseman Johan Yan doubled twice and singled once in four at-bats. He is now 9-for-18 with four doubles over his last five games.

First baseman Clark Murphy went 1-for-4 with a double. It was his first extra-base hit as a professional.

Jamie McGraw and Aja Barto both singled twice in four at-bats.

Starting pitcher Ben Henry gave up three runs [two earned] in three innings pitched. He struck out five.

Relievers David Wagner and Justin King were solid, as they both gave up one run in three innings pitched.
