Holland has only allowed one homer in six starts

Left-hander Derek Holland gave Clinton a career-high 8.2 innings on Saturday while Bakersfield third baseman John Whittleman continued to heat up. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's minor league action.

Starter Robinson Tejeda was effective in his second start of the year, giving up one run in 5 1/3 innings. He surrendered only two hits while walking three and fanning five.

DH Jason Botts produced Oklahoma's only run on a solo homer. He also walked.

Right fielder John Mayberry and second baseman Joaquin Arias singled once in three trips.

Rehabbing outfielder Marlon Byrd struck out in all four plate appearances.

Warner Madrigal (1.53 ERA/.206 BAA total this season) struck out the side in his scoreless inning of work. He allowed one hit.

First baseman Chris Davis (.326/.363/.570) snapped a string of six games without an extra-base hit on Saturday, as he went 4-for-4 with a double and two runs batted in.

Left-handed hitters Steve Murphy and Emerson Frostad each went 2-for-4 with a double.

Craig Gentry (2/5) and Elvis Andrus (2/4, BB) both singled twice.

After walking 17 batters in 12.2 innings with Double-A Frisco, John Bannister's control problems followed him back to Bakersfield. The right-hander issued six free passes in 4.1 innings on Saturday, but he only yielded one run. Bannister gave up two hits and struck out two.

Third baseman John Whittleman was 1-for-3 with a home run – his fourth – and two walks.

Shortstop Marcus Lemon had one double and one triple in four at-bats.

Leadoff man Julio Borbon was just 1-for-4, but the hit was his 10th double in his last ten games.

Left-handed reliever Ryan Falcon (2.95 ERA/.194 BAA) permitted only one baserunner – a single – in 3.2 innings pitched. The UNC Greensboro product struck out five.

Entering Saturday night's game, Derek Holland (2.45 ERA/.234 BAA) had not gone past the sixth inning in any of his five starts this season. But the lefty went 8.2 innings on Saturday, surrendering two runs on seven hits. He walked two and struck out six.

Shortstop Renny Osuna was 2-for-6 with a double, his fifth of the season.

Engel Beltre (1/6), Tim Smith (1/5, BB), and Carlos Dominguez (2/4) also doubled for the L-Kings.

Reliever Dan Sattler (1.00 ERA/.180 BAA) fanned two in 2.1 shutout frames. He gave up one hit and didn't issue a walk.
