First baseman Freddie Thon launched his fifth home run of the year in the Colombian Winter League on Thursday. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's winterball action.
Hawaii Winter Baseball: West Oahu – Season Over
13-24-1, 12.5 GB
First baseman
Ian Gac
(.303/.379/.560) built on a solid summer with short-season Spokane by hitting seven doubles and seven home runs in 31 games. The 22-year-old finished fourth in Hawaii Winter Baseball in OPS and tied for second in home runs.
Centerfielder
Craig Gentry
(.184/.286/.235) batted leadoff for much of the HWB season and struggled throughout. The Arkansas product notched five doubles, but struck out 32 times in 98 at-bats. A speedster, Gentry was successful on just one of his four stolen base attempts.
Right fielder
K.C. Herren
(.211/.257/.295) was 20-for-95 at the plate in 27 games. He had four doubles and two triples.
Left fielder
Chad Tracy
(.232/.295/.505) went just 1-for-17 over his last five games, but he still managed to belt five doubles and seven home runs in 95 at-bats. The 22-year-old finished the HWB campaign in a tie for second in home runs.
Relief pitcher
Jose Marte
(7.00 ERA/.289 BAA) notched just nine innings before being sent home due to arm troubles. The move was a precautionary one and the injury is not expected to be serious.
Arizona Fall League: Surprise – Season Over
19-13, 2.0 GU
Catcher
Taylor Teagarden
(.271/.345/.479) appeared in 12 games and was 13-for-48 with one double and three home runs. He drew six walks while striking out 18 times.
Shortstop
Elvis Andrus
(.353/.411/.471) excelled despite being the youngest player in the Fall League at 19-years-old. Andrus had four doubles, one triple, and five stolen bases in 15 games.
Third baseman
Chris Davis
(.231/.412/.462) had his AFL campaign cut short due to a foot injury. He appeared in just four games and went 3-for-13 with a home run.
Infielder
German Duran
(.281/.385/.422) put up solid numbers in the Fall League while spending time at second base, shortstop, and third base. The 23-year-old had one double, one triple, and two home runs in 64 at-bats.
Right fielder
John Mayberry
(.214/.306/.405) struggled after a hot start. The slugger appeared in 23 games, going 18-for-84 at the plate with one double and five home runs. He had 11 walks versus 17 punchouts.
Reliever
Scott Feldman
(4.24 ERA/.250 BAA) went to the Fall League to work on a new three-quarters delivery and was inconsistent. The 24-year-old hurler held a 4.24 ERA in 17 innings, yielding 16 hits, walking eight, and fanning 16.
Left-handed starter
Matt Harrison
(2.00 ERA/.174 BAA) proved to be one of the top pitchers in the AFL in seven starts. The former Braves prospect posted a 5-0 record and yielded only 16 hits in 27 innings. Harrison went through a four start stretch where he gave up no runs on two hits in 15 frames.
Danny Herrera
(2.53 ERA/.212 BAA) walked more (6) than he struck out (5) over 10.2 innings, but he permitted just seven hits. Five of Herrera’s seven hits allowed came in two of his 10 relief appearances.
Righty
Kea Kometani
(1.80 ERA/.143 BAA) was impressive in 10 innings, as he struck out 17 batters and gave up only five hits. The 6-foot-4 product of Pepperdine University fanned at least two batters in six of his eight one-inning appearances.
Mexican Winter League
Nate Gold
’s average dropped to .250 (7-for-28), as he went 0-for-3 on Thursday.
Jason Botts
was 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs batted in.
Guasave reliever
Francisco Cordova
tossed a scoreless inning.
Venezuelan Winter League
No Rangers appeared on Thursday.
Dominican Winter League
All three games were postponed due to rain.
Nicaraguan Winter League

is batting .303 with 13 doubles, five home runs, and 34 RBI through 152 at-bats. He had a solo home run on Thursday.
