Player of the Month: Chris Davis, 3B, Frisco
At just 21 years of age, it seemed impossible that Davis would be able to top his performance with Bakersfield this season. However, the native Texan is currently doing just that.
Davis played in 25 games in August and hit .312 with 11 home runs and 23 runs batted in. Playing in just his first full professional season, Davis has amassed 36 home runs between High-A Bakersfield and Double-A Frisco this season.
After making a commitment to shrinking his strike zone and improving plate discipline, Davis walked 10 times in August. The third baseman drew just 22 free passes in 99 games with Bakersfield.

Pitcher of the Month: Edinson Volquez, RHP, Oklahoma
The 2007 campaign has been a long and winding road for Edinson Volquez, but he was able to cap off his minor league season with a bang, to say the very least.
The 24-year-old fireballer surrendered just two total runs in 33 innings – spanning five starts – in the month of August. He allowed only 14 hits, walked 10, and struck out 45. Volquez officially posted a 0.55 ERA in the month with an opponents batting average of .130.
His lone loss at the Triple-A level came on August 14 in a game where he gave up one run while recording 11 punchouts in seven innings.
Volquez will make a well-deserved Major League start on September 1st.
