The Spokane Indians extended their division lead on Sunday while RHP Carlos Pimentel and CF Engel Beltre stood out in Arizona. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's minor league action.

Alfredo Simon (6.47 ERA/.315 BAA) allowed six runs on 10 hits in six innings on Sunday. He walked two without striking a batter out.

Tug Hulett (1/5) and Guillermo Quiroz (2/4) each doubled while Freddy Guzman (2/4), Victor Diaz (2/5), Nate Gold (2/5) and Desi Relaford (2/5) all singled twice.

Armando Galarraga didn't figure in the decision, but he surrendered only two runs in six innings. The righty allowed five hits while walking and fanning four apiece.

First baseman Kevin Richardson was the only RoughRider with two hits, as he was 2-for-3 with a walk.

Right fielder John Mayberry smacked his 13th home run since joining the Riders and his 28th overall.

Centerfielder Brandon Boggs and left fielder Steve Murphy also doubled.

LF Thomas Berkery and 1B Nick Cadena each singled twice.

Leadoff hitter Craig Gentry doubled and walked in five plate appearances.

Jim Fasano also went yard in his first game with the Blaze. Fasano hit .284 with nine home runs in Frisco.

Ryan Knippschild (1.2 IP) and Josh Giles (2.2 IP) each hurled scoreless relief. Giles has not surrendered a run in nine consecutive outings.

Left-handed pitcher Beau Jones allowed just one hit over five scoreless innings on Sunday, walking one and striking out four.

Shortstop Marcus Lemon (.288/.379/.394 since the MWL All-Star break) doubled and tripled in five at-bats.

Another hot middle infielder – second baseman Jose Vallejo (.333/.400/.511 in August) –went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs batted in.

Left fielder Chad Tracy (2/4, 2B), DH Mauro Gomez (2/5) and third baseman Jay Heafner (2/4) also had multi-hit efforts.

Scuffling starter Jacob Brigham allowed five earned runs for the second consecutive game on Sunday. He gave up eight total runs on nine hits in five innings, walking one and striking out four.

Second baseman Renny Osuna carried the load on offense, going 3-for-6 with a double and a triple.

Left fielder Steven Marquardt also notched three hits. He was 3-for-4 with a double and a base on balls.

C Jonathan Greene (1/2, HR, 2 BB), DH Ian Gac (1/4, 2B, BB) and RF Tim Rodriguez (1/2, 2B) each notched an extra base hit while 1B Mitch Moreland was 2-for-5 with three RBI.

The little Rangers tossed a shutout behind the rehabbing Michael Bumstead and righty Carlos Pimentel.

Bumstead gave five innings, surrendering four hits. Pimentel tossed the last four innings, giving up only one hit while walking none and striking out five.

Leadoff hitter and centerfielder Engel Beltre was 2-for-4 with a home run, his second since joining the AZL Rangers at the beginning of the month.

DH Donnie Ecker also hit his second home run of the season.

Matt West returned to action for the first time since July 31. He had been sidelined with a wrist injury.
