The Oklahoma trio of Alfredo Simon, Francisco Cruceta, and Randy Williams combined to strike out 17 batters on Friday evening. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's minor league action.

The Oklahoma pitching staff recorded 17 strikeouts on Friday evening.

Starting pitcher Alfredo Simon contributed nine of them in six innings. He surrendered one run on five hits while walking three.

Francisco Cruceta struck out six batters in two hitless innings and Randy Williams fanned two in one frame.

First baseman Nate Gold raised his average to .300 with three hits, including a home run, in five at-bats.

Right fielder Kevin Mahar (2/3) and second baseman Tim Hulett (1/4) also hit home runs.

Third baseman Adam Fox singled twice in four at-bats, making him 5-for-8 in his first two games at the Triple-A level.

Leadoff hitter Craig Gentry was the bright spot of the day, as he was 3-for-4 with a double and a stolen base.

Shortstop Matt Smith also added two singles in four at-bats.

Spot-starter Dan Touchet surrendered three runs – two earned – on five hits in two innings.

Ryan Knippschild and Mike Wagner combined to cough up 11 earned runs in 4.2 innings of relief work.

Zach Phillips gave up seven baserunners in five innings, but he struck out six and didn’t allow a run.

Tim Gudex (2.2 IP), Ivan Izquierdo (0.1 IP), and Chris Dennis (1 IP) combined to finish off the five-hit shutout of the Wizards.

Third baseman Jay Heafner was the only L-King to reach base multiple times, as he was 1-for-2 with a base on balls.
