Clinton's Michael Ballard is on a roll

Oklahoma's offense broke out of a mini-slump on Friday while both Kendy Batista and Michael Ballard gave their clubs six strong innings. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's minor league action.

The RedHawks cruised to a victory on Friday, as the offense broke out of a mini-slump.

Left fielder Jason Botts (.283/.370/.428) had four hits – including a double – in six at-bats.

Centerfielder Freddy Guzman (2/5, BB), second baseman Tim Hulett (2/4, BB), first baseman Nate Gold (2/5, 3B, BB), and catcher Guillermo Quiroz (2/4, 2B, BB) all had two hits.

Designated hitter Kevin West was 3-for-5 with a home run and four runs batted in. Dave Matranga also hit his fourth home run of the season.

Starting pitcher John Koronka allowed three runs in his first two innings, but settled down afterwards. The lefty yielded three runs on eight hits in seven innings. He walked four and struck out five.

Pitching in his first Triple-A game this season, Jorge Vasquez pitched two hitless innings. The right-hander walked three and struck out three.

Starting pitcher Kendy Batista (3.78 ERA/.254 BAA) got back on track with six scoreless innings. The native Venezuelan allowed three hits while walking one and striking out five.

DH Taylor Teagarden and first baseman Thomas Berkery each went 2-for-3 with a pair of walks.

Right fielder John Mayberry (.233/.313/.508) was 1-for-3 with a double – his 11th – and two walks.

Michael Ballard (4.06 ERA/.286 BAA) continued his outstanding May on Friday, as he tossed six strong innings. The southpaw allowed just one unearned run on four hits, walking one and striking out two.

Four of Clinton's five hits went for two bases. John Whittleman (1/2, 2B, 2 BB), Chad Tracy (2/4, 2 2B), and shortstop Marcus Lemon (2/4, 2B) all contributed.

Reliever Ivan Izquierdo struck out one in a perfect inning. He has thrown 6 1/3 scoreless innings with the Clinton LumberKings this season.

Brennan Garr got his second save of the season after allowing one run in two innings. Garr fanned five.
