German Duran hit his 10th home run of the season on Thursday, putting him just three behind his total for all of 2006. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's minor league action.

The RedHawks dropped an extra-inning contest in a game that was scheduled to go seven innings due to the doubleheader.

Second baseman Tim Hulett was 1-for-4 with a home run, his second of the season.

Starting pitcher Mike Wood (2.58 ERA/.198 BAA) picked up his first loss of the season despite pitching extremely well. Wood gave up three runs on four hits in 7 1/3 innings.

Playing in his first game of the season, catcher Nick Trzesniak singled twice in three at-bats.

Lefty Scott Shoemaker (4.85 ERA/.250 BAA) pitched well in his spot start on Thursday, as he allowed one run on two hits in three innings.

After allowing the game-winning single in the day’s first game, A.J. Murray coughed up five runs on three hits and a pair of walks in just one inning. The southpaw’s ERA shot all the way up to 5.82.

DH Marlon Byrd and LF Jason Botts each went 2-for-4 with a double. Right fielder Kevin West was 2-for-4 with a home run.

Third baseman Dave Matranga doubled and homered in three at-bats.

Starting pitcher Doug Mathis struggled for his second consecutive start, as he surrendered four runs in five innings. The Missouri product allowed five hits while walking two and fanning five.

A trio of hot hitters remained that way on Thursday.

German Duran (.287/.358/.552) was 1-for-3 with a walk and his 10th home run of the season. The 5-foot-10 second baseman is currently second on the Texas League’s home run leaderboard.

Third baseman Travis Metcalf (.299/.367/.524) had two hits – including a double – in four at-bats.

Backstop Salomon Manriquez (.291/.348/.608), who has ripped the cover off the ball lately, was 3-for-4 with two doubles, three RBI, and a walk.

Relievers Danny Herrera, Kea Kometani, Ken Chenard, and Jesse Ingram each threw a scoreless inning.

Kometani has allowed no runs on two hits in five innings out of the bullpen this season.

Lefty Glenn Swanson allowed four runs in his first two innings, but settled down afterwards. The UC Irvine product gave up four runs on nine hits in six innings. He struck out seven without issuing a free pass.
John Mayberry and first baseman Freddie Thon each went 1-for-4 with a double.

First baseman Mauro Gomez, who is hitting .405 in his last ten games, smacked his fourth home run of the season on Thursday night.

Centerfielder Craig Gentry (2/4), backstop Manuel Pina (2/3), third baseman John Whittleman (1/4), and shortstop Marcus Lemon (1/3) each doubled.

Right fielder K.C. Herren was 1-for-2 with a pair of walks.

Jeremiah Haar (1.47 ERA/.241 BAA) saved the day with 4 1/3 innings of scoreless relief. The native of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, gave up three hits, walked none, and struck out three.
