Gerald Laird has a pair of two-run homers, but a walk-off grand slam spells doom for the Rangers in a 11-7 loss to Chicago.
The Good
Gerald Laird
soared this afternoon with a couple of two-run homeruns off the Cubs' Jason Marquis. He's now batting .423 on the spring with four homers in 26 at-bats.
Ramon Vasquez followed Laird in today's lineup, and immediately following his first two-run homer of the day, Vasquez deposited the very next pitch from Marquis over the wall for a solo homerun of his own.
Ian Kinsler
had a very nice afternoon with three hits and two runs batted in.
Joaquin Benoit
continued his impressive spring with 1.2 innings of scoreless ball and two strikeouts.
The Bad
With another bad outing today,
Rick Bauer
may find himself out of a job soon. He struggled through 1.2 innings of work allowing six hits and three runs.
The Ugly
Jamey Wright
took a rather large step back in his attempt to lock down the fifth and final spot in the rotation. He threw a lot of pitches and was knocked around for eight hits, four runs, and walked two batters in 3.1 innings of ball.
Although yes, it's only spring training and yes, he was on loan from minor league camp, it's never fun to serve up a walk-off grand slam to a batter as Jesse Ingram did to the Daryle Ward of the Cubs today.
Notable
Michael Young
was in the doctor's office today having sutures removed from his injured ear. He should be cleared to return to action.
Kameron Loe
gets another chance to show he's ready for the starting rotation when he gets the ball first tommorow against the Angels.
