Wright helps cause with another strong start

The pitching has an impressive afternoon, but the offense can generate no runs in a 2-0 shutout by the Angels.

The Good

The pitching staff rebounded from two rough outings with a nice effort against the Angels. Jamey Wright started the game and faced the minimum in his three innings of work, tallying three strikeouts. He was followed by Eric Hurley and Mike Wood, who combined to hold the Angels scoreless in their three innings of work. Hurley walked two batters but was routinely hitting 96 on the radar gun, according to the L.A. Angels broadcasters.

A.J. Murray continued to impress with an easy looking 1-2-3 inning of work in the 7th.Offensively, Michael Young had a 3 for 3 afternoon and Guillermo Quiroz had a very gusty double to the wall that probably would have been a solo homerun had the wind not kept it in the park.

The Bad

Nothing earth-shattering, but Kenny Lofton did not reach base in three at-bats on the afternoon and is hitting .167 on the spring.

The Ugly

Scott Feldman was bit by the control bug a bit and seemed to be missing on many of his pitches. He allowed the only runs of the game to score on a two-run 8th inning homer by Angels shortstop Erick Aybar. Again, it's probably nothing to lose sleep over, but with A.J. Murray hard-charging to win a roster spot Feldman could find himself the odd man out of the bullpen race should they reward Murray's fine pitching this spring with a relief role.

Notable

Kameron Loe gets the start tommorow afternoon against the Brewers while Kevin Millwood will take the hill in the "B" game.
