The Good

Vicente Padilla allowed one run on two hits and two K's over two innings of work in his first outing of the spring.

C.J. Wilson was stellar in his first exhibition outing and was the only Rangers' pitcher to set the Royals down in order on the afternoon with a 1-2-3 inning in the top of the fifth

The Bad

Aside from his run-scoring single in the opening inning, Sosa ended the day going just 1 for 3 with a strikeout and a pop-up.

Staying true to his form the first batter Vicente Padilla faced to begin the ballgame, Joey Gathright, was hit by a pitch.

The Ugly

Two key members of the Texas bullpen last season were both roughed around in their first spring training appearances. Akinori Otsuka was touched up for three hits and walked a batter before getting out of the inning only allowing one earned run. And although Rick Bauer ended up taking the win, he was also credited with a blown save and allowed four hits during his inning of work late in the game

Notable

Brandon McCarthy will take the hill tomorrow afternoon against Kansas City.

Sosa is expected to play right field in the game.

You can scratch one name off the board of possible candidates to fill the 5th spot in the rotation. Manager Ron Washington stated that John Rheinecker is still bothered by a sore back and likely won't be able to throw off a mound for at least another week.

After playing in both the "A" and "B" squad games on Friday, Jason Botts was in left field Saturday afternoon and continues to get heavy looks from the Rangers.
