Morban returns to Rangers

The Rangers signed infielder Jose Morban, a one time prospect, to a minor league contract on Monday.

Jose Morban, who had originally signed with the Rangers as an undrafted free agent in 1996, signed a minor league contract with the Rangers and is expected to battle for a spot on Triple-A Oklahoma's roster.

In 736 career minor league games, Morban is hitting .245 with 117 doubles, 45 triples, 57 home runs, 300 RBI, 179 stolen bases and 432 runs scored.

Morban spent last season with Triple-A Tacoma in the Seattle organization. He batted .244 for the Rainiers with four doubles, two triples, a home run and nine RBI in 26 games. He also spent over three months on the disabled list with a left wrist sprain.

His big league debut came back in 2003 while with the Baltimore Orioles. In 61 games, he went 10-71 with two homeruns and five runs batted in.
