Rangers Winterball Roundup – 11/11

Surprise third baseman Mike Olt belted two home runs on Friday while second baseman Leury Garcia reached base four times. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's winterball action in the Texas Rangers' system.

Arizona Fall League: Surprise 13 – (@) Peoria 12

Cleanup hitter and DH Mike Olt had another massive day at the yard, going 2-for-4 with two homers, two walks, and five runs batted in. Olt belted a solo shot in the second before adding a grand slam in the sixth.

Olt now leads the circuit with 11 round-trippers and 38 runs batted in. He is batting .344.

Speedy second baseman Leury Garcia raised his average to .356 with three singles in four at-bats. He also walked and stole his seventh base in 10 attempts.

Starter Miguel de los Santos had some struggles, but it didn't matter much due to the Surprise offense. De los Santos yielded five runs––four earned––in 3.1 innings, giving up four hits, walking three, and striking out four. He surrendered a pair of home runs.



Venezuelan Winter League


Tanner Scheppers suffered the blown save for Magallanes, although he didn't surrender a run of his own. The hard-throwing righty got a strikeout but walked two batters (one intentional) before being lifted.



Dominican Winter League


Escogido left fielder Julio Borbon struck out and walked once each in his two plate appearances on Friday. He was lifted for a pinch hitter in the sixth inning.



Mexican Pacific League


Jose Felix came into the game as a late-inning defensive replacement and was hitless in his only at-bat. The backstop is hitting just .122 during this winterball campaign.



Puerto Rican Winter League


No Rangers appeared in the circuit on Friday.



Liga Paralela (Venezuela Minor League)


The Magallanes side plated 23 runs on Friday afternoon, and DH Joey Butler played a part in the damage by going 2-for-5 with a walk and a run batted in. He also struck out twice.
