Max Ramirez (.310/.410/.419) batted third and played first base for the Tiburones de La Guaira on Friday evening. The right-handed hitter built upon Thursday’s strong performance by going 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, and a run batted in.
Magallanes shortstop Andres Blanco saw his average fall to .296 after he went hitless in four trips.
Liga Paralela (Venezuela Minor League)
The La Guaira club was shut out, 6-0, on Friday morning. Left fielder Renny Osuna and centerfielder David Paisano each went 0-for-3. Osuna, who batted leadoff, also laid down a sacrifice bunt.

Estrellas Orientales first baseman Chris Davis broke out of his slump with a pinch-hit three-run homer in the fifth inning. He also walked later in the contest. Davis is now 18-for-74 with four doubles, five round-trippers, seven walks, and 20 strikeouts. The impressive power display gives the 24-year-old a .500 slugging percentage despite his .243 batting average.
Taylor Teagarden got the start behind the plate and singled once in four trips, slightly raising his average to .161 through 10 contests.
Aguilas leadoff man Julio Borbon got a big two-RBI single for his club in the sixth inning. However, he struck out in his other five plate appearances, making him 1-for-14 with eight punchouts over his last three games.
Despite the brutal stretch, Borbon isn’t generally regarded as a player that struggles to make contact. The outfielder struck out in 59 of his 468 plate appearances (13%) with the Rangers this past season.
Two-hole hitter Esteban German played in left field for the Toros on Friday evening. The 32-year-old went 2-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored, raising his average to .337.
Puerto Rican Winter League
One night after hitting a big double in his first winterball at-bat, catcher Kevin Torres earned his first start with the Criollos. The 20-year-old batted ninth and went 0-for-4 with a strikeout. He also had a passed ball behind the plate.
Ponce left-hander Zach Phillips bounced back after starting his offseason with a few rough outings. The reliever worked a scoreless ninth inning, as he plunked a batter, induced a double play ground ball, and got a flyout to center.

No Rangers appeared on Friday.
