A trio of Rangers prospects appeared for Ponce of the Puerto Rican Winter League on Wednesday evening. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's winterball action.

Venezuelan Winter League

Magallanes shortstop Andres Blanco (.301/.363/.397) extended his hitting streak to a modest five games by going 1-for-4 with his seventh double of the season.

The Rangers are reported to have interest in bringing outfielder Endy Chavez back in 2011 on a minor league contract. The veteran was with Texas last season but missed nearly the entire season while rehabbing a leg injury.

Chavez is currently playing with Magallanes as he auditions for a job next season. The 32-year-old has appeared in 14 games, playing at all three outfield spots and going 14-for-60 (.233) with a pair of doubles, three walks, and nine strikeouts. He doesn’t have a stolen base attempt.

Tiburones DH Max Ramirez saw his average drop to .281 after he went 0-for-4 with a walk and a strikeout.

Liga Paralela (Venezuela Minor League)

In a matchup that included two of the league’s top teams––and the two clubs with Rangers prospects on the roster––Caracas defeated La Guaira, 6-5, in 11 innings on Wednesday morning.

Caracas shortstop Edwin Garcia was hitless in the contest, going 0-for-3 and dropping his average to .211.

La Guaira centerfielder David Paisano was 1-for-4 with a sacrifice fly. Renny Osuna batted sixth, played left field, and went hitless in five at-bats.

Dominican Winter League

Estrellas first baseman Chris Davis (.233/.309/.452) was 0-for-2 with a walk and a hit-by pitch. After a strong start, the left-handed slugger has struggled mightily over his last 10 contests, notching just four hits in his last 35 official at-bats (.114).

Puerto Rican Winter League

Ponce starting pitcher Ben Snyder (2.21 ERA/.211 BAA) worked five innings, allowing three runs on six hits. He walked three, plunked one, and struck out two. Though the 25-year-old has a 2.21 ERA thus far, he has just six strikeouts (and five walks) in 20.1 innings.

Left-handed reliever Zach Phillips struggled again, as he permitted a run on two hits and a walk in one-third of an inning. Phillips has given up four runs in two innings over his first three winterball appearances.

Miguel Velazquez got the start in center and singled once in three at-bats. The 22-year-old outfield prospect is 2-for-12 with a walk and three strikeouts in five games.

Mexican Pacific League

No Rangers appeared on Wednesday.
