Magallanes shortstop Andres Blanco (.300/.364/.400) was 2-for-4 with a double and a run batted in. Blanco was the only Ranger to participate in Saturday night's action, as the La Guaira game was washed out.
Caracas shortstop Edwin Garcia (.256/.396/.349) was 1-for-3 with a walk. He also attempted his first two stolen bases of the season, going 1-for-2.
Licey centerfielder and leadoff hitter Engel Beltre (.328/.361/.433) belted his first round-tripper of the Dominican Winter League season with a three-run jack in the third inning. Overall, the 21-year-old went 1-for-3 with a base on balls.
Chris Davis' average dropped all the way down to .238 after he went without a hit in four trips. Catcher Taylor Teagarden, who got the start at catcher, fanned twice in four hitless at-bats. The 26-year-old has 10 strikeouts in his first 27 plate appearances.
Davis is homerless in his last seven games, going 3-for-29 with four walks and 10 strikeouts during that stretch.
A trio of Rangers appeared for Ponce on Saturday evening. Reliever Zach Phillips inherited a bases-loaded, two-out jam in the sixth inning but ended the threat by inducing an infield popup.
The southpaw came out for the seventh and retired the first two hitters before allowing a Javier Valentin triple. Fellow Rangers farmhand Adalberto Flores then entered and let the run cross the plate on a ground-ball single.
Phillips ended up surrendering one run in one inning, striking out one batter. Flores technically didn't allow any runs in his 1.1 frames. He gave up two hits, walked zero, and struck out a pair.
Left fielder Miguel Velazquez batted eighth and went 0-for-3 with a pair of strikeouts. The 22-year-old has one hit in nine at-bats over his first four games.
No Rangers appeared on Saturday.
