The Surprise Rafters wrapped up the campaign with a second-place finish in the Fall League's West Division. Ten different Rangers prospects appeared in at least one game. Right-hander Eric Hurley stood out among the group, as he finished with a streak of 20 consecutive scoreless innings over four starts.
Navegantes del Magallanes shortstop-third baseman Andres Blanco was 1-for-4 with a walk and his first stolen base of the winterball campaign.
Over the last month, left-hander Martin Perez had piggybacked behind Magallanes starting pitcher Fernando Nieve. While Nieve started on Tuesday, Perez didn't appear. The rotation may have changed, though Augusto Cardenas––who covers baseball for Maracaibo-based Diario Panorama––believes Perez may be finished until Spring Training.
The 19-year-old Perez has logged 117.2 innings between Double-A Frisco and his winterball season with Magallanes.
Games were scheduled for Tuesday, though box scores were never posted on the Liga Paralela website.
First baseman Chris Davis is quickly establishing himself as a power bat in the middle of the Estrellas Orientales lineup. The 24-year-old went 3-for-4 with a pair of home runs––leading to all three of his club's runs batted in––during Tuesday night's game.
Through his first six winterball games, Davis is 6-for-22 (.273) with a double, three home runs, no walks, and eight strikeouts.
Catcher Taylor Teagarden batted eighth for the same club and went 0-for-4 with a strikeout and a fielding error.
Left fielder Julio Borbon's Aguilas Cibaenas went against the Estrellas and picked up a 4-3 victory. Playing in his second game of the winter, Borbon was 0-for-2 but drew an intentional walk and was hit by a pitch.
Licey centerfielder Engel Beltre batted ninth and was 1-for-4 with a double and his second stolen base. The 21-year-old is batting .370 through 17 games, but the two-bagger was his first extra-base hit in the Dominican.
Toros del Este second baseman Esteban German (.297/.350/.405) fanned twice in four hitless at-bats.
No Rangers appeared on Tuesday.
The circuit has begun its 2010 campaign, but there will be no Rangers players participating this season.
